I Can Careers Fair is an event which offers advice, guidance, and activities geared towards providing learners with information on higher education and learning, as well as opportunities for apprenticeships, training programmes, and volunteer work. This year, the event was attended by 165 students from 26 students from schools in East Sussex and was a marked success in providing students with insights into workplace life.

Simon Rand from Smarter Business attended to discuss the working world with students and to answer questions and conduct mock interviews as one of the many activities on offer at the fair. The event was aimed at learners who were unlikely to pursue higher education and secure good jobs. “I felt they embraced the comments I made and appreciated the suggestions and, as a stranger to them, they paid more attention, especially where they may have heard this advice before from their parents or teachers,” said Rand.

Feedback from the organisers was enormously positive, with comments from the students reflecting a real exchange of ideas which they found enjoyable and inspiring for their future careers. Similarly, staff members who attended collectively agreed on the immense value of the day in providing an informative platform with approachable exhibitors for their learners.

At Smarter Business, we understand that nurturing people and teams is fundamental to providing excellent service. We would like to thank the organisers for the opportunity to get involved and provide advice to all the students in attendance and we wish the learners all the best in their future career pursuits.
