Sorrel Restaurant – AA Hospitality Awards Restaurant of the Year

by | Sep 28, 2018

Held at Grosvenor House in London on 24th September, the AA Hospitality Awards celebrated the best hotels, restaurants and pubs across the UK. Smarter Business sponsored the ‘AA Restaurant of the Year (England)’ category, which saw Steve Drake’s modern fine dining restaurant Sorrel scoop up the coveted award.

To mark the twenty-first anniversary, this year’s AA Hospitality Awards were presented by Strictly Come Dancing co-host Claudia Winkleman and honoured the UK’s best hospitality establishments across twenty-three categories, including ‘Restaurant of the Year’.

Each year, the AA independently inspects hundreds of restaurants across the British Isles. Introduced in 2000, the ‘AA Restaurant of the Year’ award recognises restaurants that provide cuisine of a truly excellent standard, as well as demonstrating innovation and ambience and providing a high standard of hospitality.

Owner Steve Drake said: “We’re so delighted to receive this award and to be honoured alongside some truly incredible restaurants and chefs. I’m delighted with how quickly and positively Sorrel has been received in less than a year. We’ve worked hard to create an enjoyable and immersive dining experience, and to win this award in recognition of that is a huge achievement.”

An AA Inspector said of Sorrel:
“This is inspirational modern cooking in a delightful dining room. Wood floors, and linen-clad tables laid with fine glassware and herbs in little glass cloches add to the all-round feel of a classy operation. Ingredients are combined in thoughtful and stimulating ways and the flavours are judged just so.”

Smarter Business Marketing Manager Tyler Trenam says: “Massive congratulations to Steve Drake and the Sorrel team. With our experience in the hospitality industry, it was a natural fit for us to sponsor this award, and we’re also excited to announce that we have created a range of bespoke rates and offers exclusively for AA customers to ensure that you get the best deals available.”

“We look forward to helping AA-rated properties join the 40,000 + customers we have supported in getting the best-value deals for their businesses.”
