The noticeable change in 2020, is the segmenting of Helen Grove’s broad portfolio – with her focusing on specific objectives as Commercial Director – with Andy Taylor taking up the responsibilities of Sales Director to complete our Sales and Post Sale “dream team”.

Helen Grove’s many industry relationships – coupled with 20 years of high level experience (within E.on Energy and Smarter Business) positions her best to support our sales division in meeting their ambitious objectives.
Multi-talented, with a clear understanding of the demands of sales – Helen will ensure post-sale is well equipped for the demands expected in such a dynamic year.
Andy Taylor joins Smarter Business from Npower where he spent 5 years working as the Head of Indirect Sales.
Prior to this Andy’s additional experiences as Head of E.on’s SME Third-Party Intermediary (TPI) channel positions him well to drive company objectives into the new year.
Head of Post-Sale & Customer Services
In showing the importance of delivering this objective for 2020, Helen enlisted the expertise of Marc Brooker (who has almost 10 years of experience within the Smarter Business Group). His previous roles range from Sales, Training, Customer Service and more recently Head of Operations – giving real substance to Post Sale delivering on our objectives.
Falling under him, and within his new role as Head of Post-Sale & Customer Service, Marc has a very capable management team to support him in the coming year.
Senior Post-Sale Manager
Gary Carson, with a finance and banking background, will continue to drive high standards within our processing and submission teams, that support market leading live rates.
Key to this departments success is continuous engagement with our various teams, external partners, and suppliers alike, and Gary’s team will continue to align with our company’s objectives.
Senior Risk & Compliance Manager
With our customer’s positive experience at the core of our business, we are driven to constantly improve our Compliance and Customer Service teams. Leading both departments, Kirsty Brits who has a proven track record in these areas, will continue to use her expertise and vast experience to enhance the customer journey into 2020 and beyond.
With a powerhouse team comprising of Ashleigh Smith, Charlotte Dennis, Ken Albon, Matt Naude, and Tim Sealy-Fisher, our sales team is more than capable of ensuring our objectives are met in 2020.
Head of Key Accounts
Ensuring our Key Account customers have their bespoke needs met, Ken Albon – who was our most prolific Corporate Account Manager (before running new products for us since 2017) – will compliment Matt in ensuring our sales objectives are achieved in the coming year.
Head of Business Development
Ashleigh Smith, who transformed our Post Sale and Customer Service team structures will be tasked with doing the same in her new role, as Head of Business Development.
Ashleigh is supported by Charlotte Dennis – who has been appointed as our Strategic Relationship Manager – and who will work with Ashleigh to deliver new products and support our partners on behalf of the business.
Head of Mid-Market Solutions
Tim’s broad international experience in energy sectors offers the foundation for implementing end to end customer solutions.
Head of Mid Market Solutions is accountable for delivering these solutions and ancillary services to our key and corporate accounts teams.
Head of Commercial Finance
An exciting appointment, as our Head of Commercial Finance for 2020, is Kyla Ebersohn, who has taken the responsibility for invoicing and commission queries for next year.
Kyla is a qualified Accountant, with more than 4 years of experience within the Smarter Business Finance team. She has a proven track record of project delivery, within the business, and is geared up to link with Suppliers and Partners alike.
Strategic Relationship Manager
Charlotte who has been appointed as the Strategic Relationship Manager will be supporting New Business Development to deliver new products and support our partnerships on behalf of the business.
Charlotte has worked in the energy industry for over 11 years and has built up a wealth of knowledge and experience in different areas, maximising opportunities and adding value. Charlotte accomplished 10 years at EDF Energy, becoming an expert in building relationships.
Head of Human Resources
Faye brings over 15 years HR Management experience to Smarter Business. Previously she managed large diversified workforces within the Construction Section for companies such as Fluor, Hatch & Group Five.
She has extensive experience in the implementation of structures and aligning Human Capital to the goals of the business. Faye’s mandate is to transform Smarter Business into a high performing culture and she has an integral role in our vision for 2020
Head of Marketing
As head of one of the fastest-growing TPI’s – Tyler has an important role in maintaining a brand that reflects our vision and values.
Customers have high expectations and, with 7 years of high-level marketing experience, Tyler is well suited to exceed their expectations and 2020 will see additional development to our contact strategy. These include external communications that are compliant, social media that is engaging (and relevant) and websites and search engine optimization that supports our growth.
Head of IT & Systems
Julia has over 20 years’ experience in the IT industry and since joining the energy sector in 2012, she has broadened her skills in database management and the development of systems within a variety of platforms (including Salesforce).
Without the integral involvement of these teams, and the support they offer, our objectives to be compliant and industry leading in our sector wouldn’t be achievable.

Supplier Branded TV
|Since 2017, we have seen the successful implementation of our “supplier branded TV” initiative. Already onboarded are many of the major suppliers who provide biweekly content updates. They have found the use of these TV’s a suitable replacement to static media which become outdated and which have an ongoing cost.
